ACADEMIC LEADER
 
Overall Purpose:
  • Lead and manage the academic department so that it realizes its potentials
  • Deliver excellence in the full portfolio of academic activity, within the context of the operation and strategic development of the department
  • Maintain quality service among ESL teachers and train/coach teachers and staff in areas of concerns
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage curriculum review, supervise  teacher quality assessment, attend department meetings, ensure student examination arrangements and placements, assist in teacher recruitment and admission process, and  facilitate professional development programs
  • Support and develop team leadership, as well as ensure effective representation of the Department’s interests within and outside the Institution
  • Ensure that the activities of the Department are undertaken in accordance with the governance, policy and regulatory frameworks of the language school
  • In coordination with the management team, assess needs of teaching staff, review policies, and create effective and practical systems
  • On a quarterly basis, evaluate all direct subordinates and promote the company’s goals on a positive manner
  • Implement and obey the company rules and policies
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Administration, International Relations, or Political Sciences required. Masters degree or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Must have a teaching or managing an institution experience  either public or private
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills, ability to encourage teamwork and solicit ideas of teachers, excellent analytical and problem solving skills and advanced knowledge in implementing plans to respond to academic-related issues
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills including negotiation and influencing
  • Experience of effectively line-managing individual members of staff and teams
  • Integrity: Keeping promises, following through on commitments, and  demonstrating the values expected of others
